Miss Ingabire Grace donates mobility aids to disabled ex-combatants
Miss Rwanda Ingabire Grace in collaboration with HVP Gatagara, a reintegration centre for people living with disabilities, visited disabled ex-combatants, living in Nyarugunga cell, Kanombe Sector. The visit was part of celebrating #Kwibohora27 – liberation struggle.
The visit was aimed to recognise the invaluable role and sacrifices of the ex-combatants in Rwanda’s liberation struggle. Miss Ingabire Grace in collaboration with HVP Gatagara donated elbow crutches, wheelchairs and other items to the disabled ex-combatants.
Miss Ingabire Grace noted that people, especially the youth should always appreciate, emulate and learn from the patriotism spirit displayed by RPA veterans during the liberation struggle.
HVP Gatagara was represented by the Director of the Gikondo branch, Jean Pierre Nteziryayo. “We were glad when Miss Rwanda approached us regarding this visit. We all recognize the contribution of these ex-combatants to the country. We can’t underestimate them”
“The items we donated in partnership with HVP Gatagara serve as a gesture to show the ex-combatants that we appreciate and recognize them. This is also an opportunity for me as Miss Rwanda to learn more about the remarkable story of the liberation struggle” – Miss Ingabire Grace
Brig. Gen John Peter Bagabo, Commissioner in Rwanda Demobilization and Reintegration Commission commended Miss Ingabire Grace for this initiative, saying that it indicates how young people are proud and committed to consolidate the country’s achievements.
He urged the ex-combatants to maintain discipline and put to good use whatever they get from the government and well-wishers.
