Miss Rwanda 2021 top 20 finalists visit Bella Flowers
Miss Rwanda 2021 finalists were delighted to visit Rwanda’s leading Flower company Bella Flowers. They were taken through different steps of producing and processing premium quality roses for export and local market.
The CEO of Bella Flowers, Emmy Nyirigira, briefed Miss Rwanda 2021 contestants on the company’s journey since 2016 when it started as a small start flower production company. Bella Flowers Ltd ventures into production and export of fresh cut flowers.
Bella Flowers company is fully owned by Government of Rwanda. Currently, Bella Flowers grows 18 varieties of roses on 65 ha hectares. The whole project now operates on 100 ha including the land under production and other project facilities.
The CEO of Bella Flowers Emmy Nyirigira told Miss Rwanda 2021 contestants that they produce an average of 4 million stems of cut roses per week, 72 million stems per year. “Our projection in the next 5 years is to harvest 150 million stems per year”.
The growth of Bella Flowers into a mega flower company in only 6 years, proves Rwanda’s potential in floriculture. 80% of fresh cut roses produced is for foreign export. Bella Flowers has expanded its market reach to Europe and is targeting West African region.
Despite the constraints caused by COVID-19 pandemic, the CEO of Bella Flowers Emmy Nyirigira revealed that the company was able to generate Rwf6.5 billion from flower sales mainly on export market.
The CEO of Bella Flowers noted that the flower industry in Rwanda is still very young and there is immense potential for growth of both the industry and the flower culture. He added that the company is working to promote a flower-buying culture in Rwanda.
On top of taking #Rwanda’s image on global scene of flower producers, Bella Flowers company has provided local residents in Rwamagana District with employment opportunities. The company employs close to 1,000 workers who are involved in production activities, harvesting & grading.

The CEO of Bella Flowers presented a bouquet of fresh flowers to each contestant as a token of appreciation for taking time out of their busy boot camp schedule to visit the flower company. This is the third year Bella Flowers is partnering with Miss Rwanda.
The Rwanda’s leading flower producing company will reward Miss Rwanda 2021 First Runner-up. She will also be their Brand Ambassador for a whole year.
