Miss Rwanda 2022: Excitement as 20 Finalists enter the Bootcamp

Monday was the day the 20 finalists of Miss Rwanda 2022 were waiting for as they headed to La Palisse Nyamata where they will be living for the next three weeks for the bootcamp.

The 20 girls, clad in beautiful dresses designed by Ian Boutique, hopped onto the Volcano Express bus and headed to the Bugesera district, Eastern Province, where they will be accommodated for 21 days as they participate in the different activities and challenges that are part of the bootcamp/

Addressing a press conference at Intare Conference Arena on Monday, ahead of the bootcamp, the Miss Rwanda Spokesperson Meghan Nimwiza congratulated the 20 girls that made it through the pre-selection phase and reminded them that the journey has just begun.

“We would like to congratulate all the girls that made it through and those who were not lucky enough to make it to the next phase. Getting to the pre-selection phase is an achievement in itself.

The Miss Rwanda team briefed the girls and their parents/guardians about what is expected in the bootcamp, the different activities they will participate in as well as the training and coaching to prepare them ahead of the Miss Rwanda finale.

“This is a very important phase of the competition. It is a time when the competition actually begins, different challenges await them and they will be addressed by different speakers and coaches,” Nimwiza said

“The challenges and tasks in the bootcamp will determine the nine girls who will make it to the top 10 while one girl will make it through the popular vote by the public. I guess now we all understand the importance of the bootcamp and what it means for the competition.”

The Miss Rwanda Spokesperson assured the parents that their daughters will be in the best environment possible, not just for their own safety but also for them to fully participate in the pageant and achieve their dreams.

“I would like to assure the parents and guardians here that the Miss Rwanda bootcamp happens in the safest environment you can expect for your daughters. We make sure that the conditions are safe for them to fully explore their potential and be the very best versions of themselves.”

“In the bootcamp, all the 20 girls will be working as a team, working together on the tasks and challenges. They have been fully briefed on what they should expect. This year we have something new where all the girls will work on one project which they will implement together. The project will be funded by ForzzaBet”

“As we briefed the parents earlier, they have an open line to reach out to us in case they want to communicate something and as we mentioned, they will have an opportunity to talk to the girls.”

Nimwiza also revealed that Miss Rwanda will facilitate the sign language interpreter of contestant Jeannette Uwimana (no.68) no as long as she requires the service.

“It is our duty to provide the contestants with everything they want for them to smoothly participate in Miss Rwanda 2022. We are committed to ensure that all the contestants are comfortable through the contest.”

“I can therefore confirm that Miss Rwanda will take care of Jeannette’s requirement of an interpreter and will facilitate her throughout the competition,” she said.

Arriving in Nyamata, Bugesera district

Upon arrival in Nyamata, the finalists underwent general medical check-ups as well as Covid-19 tests at ADEPR District Hospital. The medical examination is meant to assess the health condition of the contestants and ensure that they are all fit to join the Miss Rwanda bootcamp.

The finalists had an interactive session with Dr. William Rutagengwa, the Director General of the Hospital, who informed them about the importance of the tests.

The 20 finalists retired back to their rooms at La Palisse Nyamata Hotel where they will enjoy a number of amenities that will make their three-weeks stay a comfortable and memorable one.

On Tuesday, the girls will officially kick off bootcamp activities, including a photo and video shoot plus sessions with some of the sponsors. The Miss Rwanda website will continue to share regular updates on the bootcamp.
