Miss Rwanda 2021: Are you ready to vote for your favourite contestant?
Following the announcement of the 37 girls who progressed to the pre-selection phase from Miss Rwanda 2021 Provincial auditions, you now have a chance to vote for your favourite contestant to give them a chance to emerge among the top 20 who will make it to the bootcamp.
Miss Rwanda 2021 voting lines will open on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 and close on March 6, 2021. You can vote for your favourite contestant via SMS and online (web). The numbers which are used to vote have been accorded to contestants based on alphabetical order of their names.
“To be clear, the numbers were given to the contestants based on the alphabetical order of their surnames names. It should not be confused for some sort of ranking. Only the votes from the public will count in terms of ranking,” said Meghan Nimwiza, the head of Communications at Miss Rwanda.
To vote by SMS, type the word MISS and leave space, put the number of the contestant you want to vote for (refer to the list) to progress to the pre-selection and be among the top 20 and send to 1525.
To vote online, visit http://igihe.com and click on ‘Vote Miss Rwanda’ which will have a special corner on the website, select the contestant you want to vote for. SMS votes will account for 70% and while online votes will constitute 30%.
“Voting for your favourite contestant is the only way to show them support. The more votes a contestant gets, the more chances of progressing to the next stage,” said Nimwiza.
“Voting by SMS and online is a good opportunity for the public to have their say on who they want to win the Miss Rwanda crown and other titles, all of which come with considerable benefits. We encourage the public to be participatory and vote as much as possible,” said Nimwiza.
The first two girls who will garner the highest number of votes (SMS and Online), will immediately get a PASS to take them to the Boot Camp.
Nimwiza assured the public that the voting system will be transparent and the outcome will reflect the choice of the general public.
The competition is stiff and only more votes could determine whether the contestant you support can proceed or not.
As explained by Judge Emma Claudine Ntirenganya, even selecting the 37 girls was an uphill task, given the many submissions that Miss Rwanda 2021 received.
“A total of 413 girls registered to contest for Miss Rwanda 2021. Though nine contestants withdrew from the competition due to personal reasons, we still had a huge number to pick from because majority of the girls fulfilled the requirements,”
“At the end of the day we had difficult decisions to make by making sure that we picked the very best, which is how we arrived at the 37. It means that the next phases will be even more competitive,” she explained.
Remember voting closes on March 6, 2021.
