Biography
Grace Ingabire is the current Miss Rwanda 2021. She seeks to engage women in dance programs that empower them and also create a culture of dance theater events aimed at exploring the essence of humanity. Through the Miss Rwanda platform, she represents Africa Improved Foods as their brand ambassador. So far, she has been able to do an externship with AIF where she spent some time in the AIF chemistry lab, learning how AIF products are tested for different parameter content to ensure that they meet the necessary nutrition standards. She also got to visit some key clients of AIF such as World Food Program to learn more about their partnership.
She is also the project manager of Ikiringo project, a project under BENEDICO. BENEDICO is an Intellectual Property Consulting Company. Ikiringo Project is a project that aims at protecting and promoting local culture through authentic portrayal of local dances in Rwanda and in Africa. The project started with mainly Rwandan local dances including ikinimba, ikinyemera and gusaama. Grace has been working on the Ikiringo project since November 2019.
She graduated in May 2019 from Bates College, US where she focused extensively on dance and economics. She majored in dance with a concentration in globalization and philosophy & psychology.
During her time in college, she interned with MINICOM in the summer of 2016 where she supported the ministry’s work in mainstreaming Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) into the national planning framework. She also interned with BRD in the summer of 2015 where she appraised development projects and assisted in the preparation of the presentation of the strategic plan (2015-2019) presented to Development Financial institutions and to external stakeholders.
She has volunteered as a dance teacher for grade 4 and grade 5 students at Kigali Parents School (her former primary school) in the summer of 2018. She also volunteered at a summer camp program at Tree Street Youth Center in Lewiston, Maine US as a dance teacher in the summer of 2019.
Grace attended her A’ level at Gashora Girls Academy and her O’level at Nu-Vision High School.
Her interests include inclusive education through diversification of learning styles and avenues, movement exploration and expression through dance, interior design, wash programs and reclaiming of conversation through awareness of the impact of digital technology on our wellbeing.
